GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE CENTAURS 4-H CLUB
As an equestrian-based club, the Centaurs 4-H Club's educational goals and objectives include
the following: Develop leadership abilities, build character, and assume citizenship
responsibilities; Experience the pride of owning or leasing a horse or pony and to be responsible
for its management; Develop an appreciation of horseback riding as a healthy and wholesome
form of recreation; Learn skills in horsemanship and an understanding of the business of
breeding, raising, and training horses; Increase the knowledge of safety precautions needed to
prevent injury to themselves, others, and their mounts; Promote a greater love for animals and a
humane attitude toward them; Be better prepared for citizenship by working in groups and
supporting community horse projects and activities; Teach good sportsmanship through a
friendly, competitive atmosphere; and Promote future horse industry development and expansion.

You do not need to own or lease a horse to be a Club member. There is a Horseless Horse
project which can be carried by those Club members who do not own a horse. If you have a
love for horses, then the Centaurs 4-H Club has something special to offer.
