Level 1 and 2 Health Care/Vet
Knowledge/Nutrition
What I need to learn:    

Level 1:

Health Care and Veterinary Knowledge:

- Know what and who a veterinarian is.
- Know at least two reasons that would
cause you to call the veterinarian for a
horse.

Suggested Resources: Chapter 4 in
JMH: Level 1 and Chapter 9 on USPC
Basics for Beginners.



Nutrition:

- Know at least two items you may feed
a horse daily.

JMH: Level 1 and Chapter 7 in USPC

Level 2:

Health Care and Veterinary Knowledge:

- Describe at least five basic symptoms.
that indicate that your horse might be in
need of veterinary care.
- Name at least two ways you can tell if
a horse is properly cooled out after work.
- Know at least two reasons for daily
hoof care.
- Know at least two reasons why farrier
(blacksmith) visits are necessary.

Nutrition:

grain is safe to feed.
